　一位充满热情却缺乏天赋的艺术家从当地博物馆偷走了一幅画，随后卷入了现代史上最大的艺术品盗窃案。灵感来自真实事件。

　　影片围绕一宗波云诡谲的“鬼楼杀人案”展开，讲述警察甄小火前往调查时遭遇的一桩又一桩险象环生、扑朔迷离的诡事。
　　民国晚年，时局动荡，民生飘摇，屡有少女遭红衣女鬼劫持失踪，失踪少女陈尸鬼宅之中，脚上都穿着诡异的红色绣花鞋。警局中人避之不及，唯有青年女警甄小火，不信鬼神之说，坚持追查此案。随着深入调查，一件件扑朔迷离的案件浮出水面。

　　玉格格（米雪 饰）从小过着娇生惯养的生活，个性跋扈而又任性。一次偶然中，她结识了名为胡雪岩（刘松仁 饰）的男子，被胡雪岩的正直和英俊吸引，玉格格向胡雪岩展开了热情的攻势。然而，胡雪岩的心中早已经驻进了一位程湘莲（苏明明 饰），故对玉格格的殷勤不为所动，伤心的玉格格联手暗恋湘莲的董武祺（沈孟生 饰），企图把湘莲赶走。 随着时间的推移，湘莲的善良和单纯化解了玉格格对她的成见，久而久之，两人竟然成为了好友。某日，玉格格在灵龟寺遇见了王有龄，趣味相投的两人渐渐产生了感情。玉格格被选中入宫做秀女，玉格格的父亲知道这是一条不归路，于是建议女儿逃走。

　　Walter Nebicher is the police department's resident computer expert, although his immediate superior gives no respect as to his contribution to the force.
